1. How do you personalize each Reiki session to the specific needs of your clients?

Melissa: “During our intake, I gather information to better understand each client's needs. Most of us hold onto unwanted energies in different areas of our bodies. My job is to find those spots and tailor each session accordingly. It’s like tuning into a station that’s unique to you and making sure we’re channeling the right frequency for your healing.”

Melissa's approach involves crafting a custom experience, making it clear that her clients aren’t just another number—they’re individuals with their own energy maps. The care she puts into finding the root of each client’s energetic blockages shows her commitment to the practice.  

2. Can you share some of the immediate benefits people might feel after a Reiki session?

Melissa: "After a Reiki session, people often feel deeply relaxed, more positive, and less stressed. They might also notice reduced pain, better sleep, increased energy, and clearer thinking. It’s like pressing a reset button on your body and soul."

Her words made me realize just how personal the effects of Reiki can be. Whether you choose reiki, yoga, the gym, therapy or whatever for of self care that helps you transition from anxious to in control; it’s about reclaiming your energy and clarity in the end.

3. What advice would you give to someone who is curious about Reiki but unsure if it’s right for them?

Melissa: "My best advice would be to just try it! Reiki is one of those things that’s better explained through experience. You can’t describe the feeling of stillness that comes with each session. Once you’ve felt it, it’s hard to imagine living a life without that sense of peace again."

4. How can people improve their energy flow and overall vitality outside of healing sessions?

Melissa: "Being mindful of who and what you surround yourself with is a top priority. You can’t expect to find peace in a chaotic environment. While you’re working on creating those boundaries, I recommend incorporating salt baths, meditation, and establishing a spiritual hygiene routine."

Her advice felt like a gentle reminder that energy isn’t just something we manage during a session—it’s a lifestyle.  Lifestyles take consistency and practce, its not a one time thing. Protecting our energy is a must in today's new world, and Melissa embodies that philosophy.

5. How do you stay grounded and energized when life gets busy or stressful?

Melissa: "I’ve learned to listen to my body and not feel guilty when I need a break. It’s easy to feel like we need to be constantly on the go, but there’s beauty in stillness. Personally, I find that my best ideas come when I allow my mind and body to rest. Of course, there are times when life gets the best of me, and I’ve worked for two weeks straight and feel drained—that’s when I book a Reiki session for myself."

Even healers need healing, this was and is my current mindset now that GBL is in it's fourth year. In order for me to continue helping others I have to take care of my mental health in all the ways necessary.  

6. What are some simple practices people can do at home to manage stress and anxiety naturally?

Melissa: "Take time for yourself daily, even if it’s just 15 minutes. Check in with yourself and ask, ‘How am I doing?’ Spend time outdoors, put your feet in the grass, and remember that nature is healing. Get a journal and let everything out onto those pages. Also, be mindful of what’s causing your stress and anxiety. How can you eliminate it? Set goals."

7. Can you speak to the importance of mental health and self-awareness in living a healthy, vibrant life?

Melissa: "Mental health and self-awareness go hand in hand. We’re all dealing with our own mental health challenges, but without self-awareness, we can’t start to heal or allow ourselves to be happy. Understanding ourselves and our triggers helps us maintain what’s healthy and vibrant in our lives."

8. How do you approach nutrition and physical activity as part of your overall wellness philosophy?

Melissa: "I have my moments, especially when life gets overwhelming, but my energy always feels better when I balance movement, whole foods, and adequate protein. If I’m feeling sluggish, I listen to my body and give it what it needs. But I also make sure to spend time outside to recharge and return to the routine that makes me thrive."

Her approach is a gentle reminder that wellness doesn’t have to be a rigid gym routine filled with pre-workouts and painfully heavy weights to build the biggest gym booty nor does it have to be perfect—it’s about finding what works for you and honoring your mind and body’s needs.
